Page A15: President-elect MA in Taiwan to open new era, seeking closer China tie for economic cooperation. My comment: Such approach would reduce any conflict in the years to come as some people imagined for cross-strait relations. Moreover,Taiwan sent volunteers to rescue victims of earthquake several days ago. Good deeds for Chinese ethnic sympathy and empathy.

Page A22: Steve wrote: It makes no sense for US to try to compete with China in labor-intensive manufacturing for competitive advantage. On the other hand,China is in no position to compete with USA for high tech weaponry. My comment: Since we are living in the nuclear age,the only smart way is to seek peace and development for humanity.

Page A22: Warren Scharf wrote: "Our self-indulgent culture and equally self-indulgent politics will have to undergo major change if the US is to maintain its preeminent world position." This sounds like a campaign statement!

I do agree with such insightful reasoning as a fellow educator to share with such light for thoughts with wisdom.
