US Firms come to China's Aid:WashPost,5/28/08

Page D2:Amway, Wal-Mart top list of donors sending disaster relief:

US firms have pledged at least $54 million in cash, goods and servides to victims of the earthquake, the third largest international aid package ever asssembled by American businesses - Procter & Gamble,Anheuser Busch and Merck et al.

China has become vitally important to US corporations as both a producer of goods and an incresingly voracious consumer of them. The donation is the largest Amway has made toward disaster relief.

Page D1: "The fading of the US economy: Energy and food prices are soaring. The housing market continues to collapse. Government revenue is falling and taxes are risings. Airlines are jacking up fares and fees while reducing service. Banks are pulling credit lines. The story of the global economy purging itself of large and unsustainable imbalances that for a time allowed many Americans to think they were reicher than they really were." as written by Steven Pearlstein. My comment: "Enjoy now and pay later" affected Americans on the credit system as known.
