New Allies in Asia:Japan & China:WashPost,5/12/08

"We see China's internalization, Prime Minister Fukuda said. The Chinese are now aware that they need to pay a lot of attention to their own behavior as they seek to obtain resources and develop international markets in the days to come.

President Hu of China used his visit to reinforce his image as a pragmatist who pursues continued economic growth as his top priority.

Japan has more to fear from social unrest and collapse in China than from armed attack,Defense Minister Shigeru Ishiba says, "We must not let China go into some level of chaos. We will do whatever we can do to avoid that." Fighting Terrorism is the goal of USA,Japan and China.

Such new relationship should be of interest to the USA since American influence has been noted in Asia after WWII.
