Washington Post,May 25, 2008 page A17: Quake donations hit $3.7 billion.
page B7: Bush inherited a #236 billion surplus, while the next president will inherit a deficit amount about $400 billion. Federal debt is the highest percentage of GDP since the 1950s. Interest on the federal debt tops $200 billion a year. My comment: Future generations will have to pay.
page A12: Safety lapsed in rush to house Katrina victims:
The Federal Emergency Management Agency purchased nearly $2.7 billion worth of emergency housing for Hurricane Katrina victims, of three general types: Trailers, mobile homes and modified trailers called park models. Reference for China.
