Asian American Heritage Month of May,every year in USA

On Oct. 28, 1992, President George H. W. Bush signed Public Law 102-450, enacting May as Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month. May was selected to memorialize two important milestones in Asian Pacific American history: the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to the United States on May 7, 1843, and the contributions of Chinese workers in building the transcontinental railroad, which opened May 10, 1869. The purpose of this observation is to honor the achievements of Asian-Pacific Americans and to recognize their contributions to our nation. On Oct. 5, 1978, President Jimmy Carter had signed a joint resolution designating the annual celebration.

Francis Shieh, a citizen of the United States since November 11, 1954, who taught at the foreign service officers to study the Chinese language at FSI of the State Department for cultural exchange.
