US Treasury Secretary Paulson seeking common ground with China

Washington Post, August 2, 2007 page D8:" The environment is an area that is easier to cooperate on. It is something the Chinese have common ground with members of Congress on. " Paulson said. In addition to Paulson, Food and Drug Administration representative discussed safety and FDIC will advise the People's Bank of China on insuring deposits." China has 23 million folks living in poverty, Who could we threaten? We don't have the ability. China does not and will never threaten anyone." Vice Premier Wu Yi said. On page A21 Two academic economists published an article on "China's Chance to Lead" "China's argument for making no substantial reductions is one of FAIRNESS. The developed countries that are members of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development have contributed most of the excess greenhouse gases to the atmosphere and should bear most of the burden of reducing emissions." My comment: US-China positive relations would be beneficial to the peoples of two great nations and globalization is known to all economists apropos of agriculture, resource and environment et al.
