Panda with Kungfu. Should be Gongfu in Pin Yin

Style section,Washington Post,Page C1,C4:

Jack Black's Po is a lovably hapless martial artist who is whipped into shape by Dustin Hoffman's determined Master Shifu in a lively animated comedy. Shifu is a title of honor to be addressed to a skilled labor in China. It is a popular way of talking to a stranger initially as the similar expression of "excuse me. May I ask..."

Kungfu is the Wade-Giles system of romanization. In Pin Yin,"Gongfu" means a masterful skill for kicks to resist any abusive onslaught. It may mean innate or acquired strength with physical and mental clout.

After the establishment of PRC in 1949,skilled workers are honored with the title of "Shifu" as a teacher with skills. Shifu is a master worker to be an overseer with disciples as "tudi." Apprenticeship Program is popular for learning a marketable skill in the USA due to the great demand. Such program may be promoted more professionally in China to respect the skilled labor.

"Keys for Economic Understanding"(1971) (www.ask.com) is dedicated to the skilled workers under apprenticeship program being promoted under Clinton administration in 1995. Such useful program should be rekindled in the 21st century as per the market demand as I would envision.
