Why Americans are not happy? By a professor in New York City: Published in Chinese language in "Shijieribao"
The issue is Money and Love: People focus on money as the only goal in life causing problems. Money cannot buy happiness even though it is recognized that money is needed to lead a decent life. True love should be the top priority in the minds and hearts of the folks with good sense. My equation for happiness is not material consumption as numerator over desire as denominator only but to add intellectual pursuits,spiritual satisfaction and good health to the numerator as I lectured in Shanghai in 1981. I am delighted to learn that the professor in NY has the similar reasoning for proper philosophy of life.
