Richard Thaler published NUDGE: Yale Univ. $26

NUDGE: Improving decisions about health, wealth, and happiness 293 pp.
Leonard Mlodinow earned a PhD in Physics from Berkeley, wrote for "MacGyer" and "Star Trek."

Nudge is a policy-oriented book, thanks to the imprimatur of Sen. Barack Obama. The authors want to steer people to make better choices. My comment: Economics is a science of change and choice. Students in economics learn how to maxmize and optimize in all situtions!

Richard Thaler is a pioneer of behavioral economics and Cass Sunstein, the coauthor,a noted law professor. Numerous studies show how far short humans fall from the ideal of homo economicus. Inertia, herd behavior, ignorance of odds, and egotism conspire to cause people to make bad decisions and poor predictions.

I would recommend my own Happiness Equation: Material Consumption+Intellectual pursuits+Spiritual Satisfaction+Good Health as the elements of numerator over Desire as the Denominator.

Francis Shieh a.k.a. Xie Shihao,a devoted student of behavioral economics to try to understand the headlines of happenings to be derived from the decisions of our leaders as we witness the consequences of priorities i.e. domestic and international focus, war or peace for the wellbeing of humanity.
