I was a member of the research staff at the Department of Economics from Jan. 1964 to September 1965 before coming to Washington to work for NSF project for American scientists to have contacts with Chinese scientists. "Directory of Chinese Scientic Research Institutions" was published by Hoover Institution,Stanford University,1971. I published "A Glimpse of the Chinese Language" in March 1965 for Westerners to have understanding of the Chinese language via Pin Yin system initially. My colleague and friend Richard Moorsteen published "Remaking China Policy",Harvard University Press,1971. His vision is being realized now in the 21st century and beyond.

Chief Dan Liu was with the Police Force over 4 decades and was chief of Police,21 years. I met many folks from Hawaii in early 1950s in Los Angeles and I became a good friend of Chief Dan. Unfortunately,he passed away in his 70s and a new Police Station was dedicated to honor him in downtown Honolulu.
