Pew Research Center on China and Confucianism

The Way They See It Q: Are you satisfied with the way things are going in China? 86% satisfied. More than 8 in 10 Chinese think China is heading in the right direction...Making them more content than any other population surveyed.
But many Chinese are not fully satisfied with their income, job or family life- 54%,60% and 67% respectively. Most Chinese believe that their economy is giving other countries a lift: Positive 55%. Almost 80% think that China is popular around the world... Based on survey released in December 2007. The above data are published by the Washington Post July 27, 2008. I have reason to believe that positive scenario may be noted during the Olympic Games as the world watches China's achievement in sports. On page B5 Jonathan Spence believes that Confucianism is now leading the nation to national pride as expounded by the Chinese philosophers, educators and scholars. The influence of Confucius and Mencius can be felt in Korea,Japan,Vietnam and ethnic Chinese in every nook and corner on earth. I fully endorse such views as a lifelong disciple of Confucianism since the days in China from late 1930s and 1940s in my schooling from the original Chinese classics with a university degree in Shanghai (1946). FYI: Yale Professor Spence may be searched online at www.Google.com for his brilliant intellectual portrait of China in the 21st century with his insightful vision.
