NYT,pages 1 Chinese nationalism: The Dalai Lama is trying to separate Tibet from China. Page A10: Dalai Lama incited riots and it is not acceptable at all to law-abiding folks inside and outside China for such violence during the Olympic Games to be dedicated as the pride of all Chinese.

Deals and Deal Makers on page C3 Wall Street Journal:

China Railway put Citigroup in second place in Asian overall in the 1st quarter from investment banking making 103 million.

Page C6 Smartphone(under contract for Palm, Dell and Hewlett Packard) re HTC(based in Taiwan)with a bright prospect.

Touch is pitched as an alternative to Apple's iphone and sells for between $500 and $700. Investors are shunning lack of demand due to slowdown in US and in Europe. The focus now is on China-related shares which have soared on the KMT victory in Taiwan and promises of improved economic ties with China.
