Common Goal for USA and China:March 13,08 WashPost

Washington Post,March 13, 2008 on page A13: Taiwan Referendum Faces Boycott: US and China have denounced the referendum as a needlessly provocative maneuver, designed by Chen Shui-bian and his DPP to emphasize the self-ruled island's claim to formal independence from China. Such maneuver is in opposition to Chinese history, tradition and culture of the Chinese folks on both sides of Taiwan straits. Moreover,Chinese in every nook and corner would be against such maneuver for the sovereignty of China,a member of the Security Council of the United Nations.

US State Department has dropped China from its list of human rights violation. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is designed to remove the ugly traces of discrimination of minorities which may be regarded as a violation of human rights to earn a living in USA. Moreover, such discrimination has been cited as one of the campaign issues for the election of the President of the United States in November 2008. Furthermore, economics textbooks have cited such unfair treatment to educate students of economics to be aware of such inequities which is not inline with the Constitution of USA for all Americans to have the right to earn a living in America as American citizens.
Francis Shieh a.k.a. Xie Shihao on March 13, 2008 with reflections of a case in Maryland re the forced resignation of a faculty member of Chinese ancestry who taught for 17 years and another American faculty of Chinese ancestry who taught for 18 years in the field of economics. Such cases are crystally clear but it is difficult to prove in the Court due to conservative mindset of the authorities with administrative clout. Let us hope for a better America with equal opportunities for all citizens regardless of race, color, creed or age. March 13, 2008
