Deputy Assistant Defense Secretary for East Asia

David Sedney told reporters Monday that he had just returned from surprisingly successful talks with his Chinese counterparts. In addition to reaching a deal to establish a military phone link between the two nations, announced last week, the two sides agreed to move forward in a dialogue on nuclear strategy and policy, he said. My comment: Such positive dialogue would have favorable impact on US-China or Sino-American economics in the 21st century.

China will act to slow growth,legislators were told by Premier Wen. Page A15. China's economy has surged by an annual average of 10.6% since 2002. Premier Wen said the government will improve its management of the economy and try to slow that growth to 8% this year, while working to hold consumer inflation to 4.8%
The government said that details regarding the superministries will be presented to the congress on Tuesday and a decision on the plan is expected March 15,2008. Let us watch the developments next week.
