Farm Program as per Senator Lugar of Indiana
Washington Post,July 31, 2007 on page A18: Senator Richard G.Lugar: Current farm programs provide an untrustworthy safety net for America's farmers, as evidenced by Congress having to approve disaster aid payments to farmers every year since 1988. In fact, the current system, which is available to only 43% of American farmers, subsidizes consolidation in the agricultural economy and perpetuates cycles of commodity prices based on government price signals. I strongly favor programs that allow farmers to grow commodities based on market indicators, not on government dictated controls that still exist in outrageously expensive federal farm program. Such statement is useful for reference since China is basically an agricultural nation apropos of Sino-American Economics re China's market economy. Francis Shieh a.k.a. Xie Shihao. Tea and Chocolate for all folks
Research shows that the answer depends on the way tea is decaffeinated. If caffeine is removed with a compound called ethyl acetate, only about 30% of the tea's healing polyphenois remain. It is believed polyphenois to fight cancer and heart disease. However, Chinese tea would be good in any situation if the person who drinks any tea has faith , hope and love. WE BELIEVE!Hehehahahoho all the way and we shall live to be centenarians before leaving this mundane world. Morever, if we indulge in chocolate candy, choose the dark of bitter sweet kind which has antioxidant compounds known as flavonoids keeping blood platelets from sticking together and forming clots, the cause of most heart attacks. It is a satisfying day to meet a polyglot of the highest caliber
It is wonderfully validating to know my instincts were right. Our class would be a collaboration between the top notch student and me. It is always a fabulous moment when I meet a person who is highly motivated. His intellect is absorbing quickly in Wu dialect (Shanghai) and Mandarin with instantaneous understanding of his native English. It is truly cool! His soulful evolution will discover new words and expressions in the Chinese language with Level 3 as the goal for Wu dialect.(Shanghai) In the next six weeks,I have reason to believe that such objective can be reached with facility and alarcrity.

Commentary by an inquisitive would-be economist
How to cope with global warming, peak oil, inequality, and a growing sense of isolation? Economists have missed a simple answer. We need to create in-depth ways and means for international independence and to sustain food and other human resources in the 21st century. What is the economy for? Aiming at the wellbeing of individuals and the societies as a whole? Both micro and macro views are to be watched thoroughly. The cult (devotion or admiration)of growth and globalization has been challenged by thoughtful thinkers. To have more may not be synonymous with betterment! On the contrary, the opposite may be realistic. Let us watch the developments in China and in USA to make comparisons in the days to come for comparative studies as lifelong students of economics for intellectual utility. Your input/feedback would be greatly appreciated. Francis Shieh a.k.a. Xie Shihao on Monday, July 30, 2007 at 4.35 a.m.

ECONOMICS: "Discover Your Inner Economist" by Tyler Cowan. Publisher: Dutton.; 245 pp. $25.95 The author is an economics professor at George Mason University. Maybe the "Freakonomics," the best seller in 2005 is peaking as well with such craze. It is fun to use economic principles to unravel everyday riddles. But cutting edge researchers are going further, deploying the tools of psychology and neuroscience to probe economic behavior, using imaging technology to map our brains and understand how we invest, buy and save. That is freaky. My comment: Lifestyles of the Chinese folks in China, mostly farmers, are different from Americans in USA. That is cultural with tradition. As such, the behavior would be inscrutable for Westerners to comprehend. Xie Shihao, a graduate student from China for advanced studies since 1947 a.k.a. Francis Shieh. July 29, 2007
