ECONOMICS: "Discover Your Inner Economist" by Tyler Cowan. Publisher: Dutton.; 245 pp. $25.95 The author is an economics professor at George Mason University. Maybe the "Freakonomics," the best seller in 2005 is peaking as well with such craze. It is fun to use economic principles to unravel everyday riddles. But cutting edge researchers are going further, deploying the tools of psychology and neuroscience to probe economic behavior, using imaging technology to map our brains and understand how we invest, buy and save. That is freaky. My comment: Lifestyles of the Chinese folks in China, mostly farmers, are different from Americans in USA. That is cultural with tradition. As such, the behavior would be inscrutable for Westerners to comprehend. Xie Shihao, a graduate student from China for advanced studies since 1947 a.k.a. Francis Shieh. July 29, 2007
