Farm Program as per Senator Lugar of Indiana

Washington Post,July 31, 2007 on page A18: Senator Richard G.Lugar: Current farm programs provide an untrustworthy safety net for America's farmers, as evidenced by Congress having to approve disaster aid payments to farmers every year since 1988. In fact, the current system, which is available to only 43% of American farmers, subsidizes consolidation in the agricultural economy and perpetuates cycles of commodity prices based on government price signals. I strongly favor programs that allow farmers to grow commodities based on market indicators, not on government dictated controls that still exist in outrageously expensive federal farm program. Such statement is useful for reference since China is basically an agricultural nation apropos of Sino-American Economics re China's market economy. Francis Shieh a.k.a. Xie Shihao.
