My interests are languages, philosophy and economics

As a lifelong student of Confucianism, I do advocate restoring traditional value and norms as a remedy for the social disorder in USA and other nations. I attempt to put such ideal into practice as the universal search for good value for any society. Admittedly, I was an economist with US Department of Labor in 1965 but my devotion/ passion has been teaching in the fields of languages(English,Chinese Mandarin and Wu dialect) and economics in the macroview in particular.
Confucian ethical ideal includes a general affective concern for others involving dedication to refrain from doing to others what one would not have wished done to oneself with filial piety and loyalty to family and friends. Such attributes are good American and Chinese value as well in the 21st century.
Self cultivation requires one's examining daily life and studying Chinese and Western classics to regain the insight of the meaning of life in this world. Such thoughts would lead to the credo of Christianity.
The theory of language is the theory of a person's knowledge of language to be represented in the minds of the individual apropos of idiolect and nuance.
Linguistics is a branch of cognitive psychology(microeconomics) which studies the mental structure responsible for linguistic competence. I do maintain that economics and culture are interrelated and interdisciplinary in comprehensive approach to be validated and implemented in arts and sciences in the East-West for globalization of knowledge per se.
Socrates says that the bond between teacher and student lasts a lifetime even when the two are no longer together. I remember my Jesuit teachers in China and in USA since 1930s to 1950. Francis Shieh aka Xie Shihao. September 19, 2007
