American Automakers in China:WashPost 9/25/07

On page D5: Ford opens 2nd Chinese asssembly plant in Nanjing. Chief executive Mulally said: "the most important goal is to meet the rapidly growing demand in China's car market. He stressed that the strongest auto makers will ultimately be the ones that use each market to its advantage. The real competitors going forward are the ones who are going to be able to leverage their global assets around the world."

General Motors to sell Buick SUVs: GM signed a deal worth more than $800 million to export Buick Enclave sport-utility vehicles to China over a four year period beginning in 2008. GM is to send 5000 of the SUVs each year through its import partner, SAIC Motor of Shanghai.
