The economics and environmental sustainability of corn ethanol are improving, benefitting from some of the same technological advances that are making cellulosic ethanol possible. Numerous factors affect retail prices of food:
Labor costs- about 38 cents of every dollar.
Packaging,transportation, energy,advertising and profits account for 24 cents.
Inputs of food such as grains and oilseeds- 19 cents.
