The current events in USA and the past happenings in my mind

Washington Post,June 19, 2009 Headline on page A1:

Lawmakers balk as administration tries to redefine central bank's role.(The FED)

High price tag for reform bill prompts sparring and a delay.(Health Care)

Page A5: Senate backs apology for slavery. It is known that Chinese workers built railroad with hardship to contribute their labor in American history. Here is Sino-American economics of labor. Such facts have been published in textbooks for reference.

Francis Shieh a.k.a. Xie Shihao, i.e. thanks from a hero of poetry. Poetry has healing effect in psychiatry as published on page B6 in the Washington Post apropos of Kenneth P. Gorelick. Dr. Gorelick went to Columbia, Yale and Harvard medical schools and accepted a Fulbright fellowship to France to study French language and literature as a man of letters.

I came to USA as a graduate student in 1947 to study American English from coast to coast. English is from Englisc from Angle i.e. folks came to British Isles in the 5th century. English is to be studied by students with tenacity. "Rong ren " two Chinese characters in Pin Yin system of romanization. In other words, learners must have patience and endurance. I started to learn English when I was in the third grade in Shanghai. But I am still a student as an octogenarian now. American English is a part of American culture and economics is also the centerpiece of culture. The effort is valiant and such study is worth pursuing. It is not about the success but the fun to be enjoyed for survival in USA. Friday, June 19, 2009 at Andrews AF Base Library to share my thoughts with readers online. Thank you for your time in reading and have a great weekend to celebrate Father's Day in USA on Sunday,June 21, 2009. I remember my father, a Professor of English at Anglo-Chinese College ,who passed away when I was seven years old in Shanghai, China. That was 1933, 76 years ago! Perhaps I have a tenacious memory as a lifelong student.
