"A Civilization of Love" By Carl Anderson. Harper

The book is the Best seller as reported by WSJ(page A8) and NYT. A bracing call(lingrenzhenfendezhaohuan) to a new American revolution of "VIRTUE"...To heal a wounded culture in USA. My comment: Study Confucianism from the original source material in the Chinese language to learn the love of brothers toward all folks in humanity regardless of national origin. To Wit: Within four seas,we are all brothers(sisters as well) In Pin Yin "Si hai zhi nei, jie xiong di ye." I believe that such expression circa 500 B.C. in China to be fitting and proper as the chosen title of such best-selling book in 2008.

Page A9 of WSJ: China is a nation beset by unfair attacks. When Chinese were silent, Western media want free speech but when Chinese speak up, folks in China are accused of being brainwashed xenophobics. In short, some Westerners have no knowledge and background of the Chinese language and culture from the original sources but rely on English materials only. Western culture has been regarded as World Civilization per se(sic) China's economy is booming to surprise the world;consequently a few people just cannot understand such economic miracle but to belittle and denigrate China (biandi or qingshi) from their own bias as their emotional outlet. There are those who don't know China and those who don't know they don't really know China since Chinese language is unwieldy at best with connotations at length. Westerners have not had the opportunity to learn in schools due to the fact that Western education is oriented to the West paying little or no attention to the East.

Page A14 of WSJ: Love Thy Foe: Gods of Kinmen Island Embrace China. Taiwan is a part of China under the new leadership for closer relations from Chinese history and traditional culture.

The East and the West are "One Human Race,""One World and One Dream"to be honored as human unity at Olympics in Beijing, China 2008 with impacts on the 21st century and beyond...
