Federal Reserve projected that the unemployment rate may surpass 10% by end of the year and the economy may not return to full health for at least five years.

Bill & Melijda Gates Foundation announced up to $500 million in grants, aiming to double college completion rates by 2025.

WashPost,July 16th page A14: with photos- Asian nations culd outpace US in developing clean energy:

Energy Secretary Steven Chu and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke are visiting China this week to discuss cooperation on energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate change.

Page A20: China's new stimulus plan raises the nation's 2020 target for solar power from 1.8 gigawatts to 20 gigawatts. China is trying to catch up in a global race to find alternatives to fossil fuels. China promotes vocational training as well. Such is the common ground of Sino-American economics.

President Obama said: "We can cede the race for the 21st century, or we can embrace the reality that our competitors already have: The nation that leads the world in creating a new clean energy economy will be the nation that leads the 21st century global economy." Nobody would impugn.
