Washington Post,Dec.4,08 page A21:

US Economy: The Mix - Our mixed economy. Such statement is the same as my past blogs apropos of private sector and public sector instead of "Capitalism" in USA because China is the most populous nation with human capital(human talents) but China is a mixed market economy with socio-economics as China's system.

Mainstream economists have always been pro-market but recognized numerous exceptions. I would name the market failures with externalities as we are witnessing the REAL ECON SYSTEM nowadays. It is rhetoric at best with metaphor as the jargon with humor if detected in the light vein.

Page D1: Economic Weakness pervasive,FED says. Let us watch the events to come as empirical evidence of the changing market system in USA.

Page B2,WashPost,Dec.3rd Dr.Sze is head of imaging and radiology at Children's National Medical Center.(with photo) His Last name is pronounced ZEE. That sounds like Xu in Mandarin. I believe Zee is the Shanghai phonetic sound. The character may be the famous Xujiahui, the commercial district in Shanghai and I taught in a college there in 1945-47. A famous official with the Last name as Xu but would be Zee in Shanghai dialect.

For explanations with comparisons, please visit www.rand.org and request a free copy of "A Glimpse of the Chinese Language" in English from PDF as public service.

Francis Shieh a.k.a. Xie Shihao,a native of Shanghai but my father's Last name is Zia,the Shanghai sound for Xie. However,I used Wade-Giles of Hsieh during the years in a university. But Hsieh is difficult for Westerners to utter such sound so my Last name was changed to Shieh at the University of San Francisco in 1947 and I have been using such official Last name of Shieh a.k.a. Xie in Pin Yin system of romanization. If readers are confused, take a course in Mandarin and Wu dialect at www.Dictyon.net
