Confucianism as part and parcel of Chinese demeanor

The Chinese social orientation is based on the Confucian ideal that individuals should be mainly concerned about the place in the network oof human relations especially family circles. Americans tend to attribute pride to the cases of personal accomplishments i.e. individualism . Moral judgments are reinforced by traditional norms and regulated by conformity to primary groups. A strong orientation to perform altruistic acts for the sake of close relatives and friends is part of Chinese culture. Five cardinal relationshiops which stresses the harmonious connection between leader and follower, father and son, husband and wife, brother and brother(sisters as well) and friend and friend. Such collective mentality may be seen or otherwise in the days to come!

Happy Holidays in USA but Chinese in China would celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Ox/Cow effective January 26, 2009. It is up to readers to concur or demur with your own volition as individual's choice or change in the name of economics under the present global economic problems. Food for thought as metaphor!
