Chinese New Year starts on Feb.7, 2008

Be happy and go lucky! What are the hopes for the Year of Mickey Mouse? Jimmy Carter was born in the Year of the Rat and he officially started diplomatic relations with China decades ago. Mickey Mouse is a product of Walt Disney who is the founding father to make folks happy in Disneyland and Disney World. We should be happy if we know this year is also the Year of Olympics in Beijing, looking forward to Expo 2010 in Shanghai,China. Harvard psychologist Daniel Gilbert has made it his life's work to understrand why folks not only make errors in predicting what will make them happy but also why they make the same errors over and overe again. My way to be "Gao Xing" in Pin Yin for cheer and joy if we have the thoughts of "bi shang pu ju, bi xia you yu" In other words,we should be satisfied with our present status. We are neither high-rollers nor paupers. Would we be happier if we were richer? It is a state of mind. I would be happier when I teach with an opportunity to exercise my brain for my intellectual endeavor as my goal for happiness with devotion since 1945.My equation: Happiness is not material consumption over desire only but must add intellectual pursuit, spiritual satisfaction plus good health as the numerator and desire as the denominator in a simple fraction. However, other scenarios would be welcome with your feedback, please? Francis Shieh a.k.a. Xie Shihao on January 16,2008 to look forward for the Spring Festival in China with memories of my youth apropos of frank innocence and child-like naivete. Francis(Frank as diminutive) Shieh a.k.a. Xie Shihao, i.e.thanks from a hero of poetry in name only(sic) with ideas and ideals as a lifelong student with scholarly delight. Jan. 16,2008
