C-Span Radio on Jan.20,08 re Gerald R. Ford

A seasoned journalist published a book about former President Ford in President Ford's Museum in Grand Rapids,Michigan. The book is one of the best sellers listed at The Washington Post and New York Times. Ford was the 38th president from 1974-77. He moved to Grand Rapids when he was 2 years old. Decades later, He entered the House of Representatives in 1949 and spent 25 years in the House as Congressman. I knew him in Grand Rapids when I taught in a college from 1961-1964 before accepting an offer to The RAND Corporation to do research in economics and taught Chinese to Richard Moorsteen who published "Remaking China Policy" in 1971 by Harvard University Press. Moorsteen's insight has been realized in US-China relations after several decades at present. The current proper US-China relations may be attributable to the late Moorsteen, the distinguished economist with vision. Grand Rapids,Michigan is the birthplace of Michael C. Shieh of USAF. During the funeral of President Ford at the Cathedral,Francis Chris Shieh of USMC Band played viola for such occasion on TV in 2007. Today's C-Span brings back my memories of President Ford with the remembrance and participation of Shieh family members. Francis Shieh,an octogenarian on Sunday,Jan.20, 2008
