Public thinks highly of Obama: Obama has not only maintained robust approval ratings but also bolstered the sense that he is a strong and decisive leader who can manage the government effectively during a time of economic crisis. I have been supporting Obama before November election and voted for Obama.

Americans rethink their must-haves: A professor of Commerce says "We're still a very materialistic society but there has been a sort of small trend toward being a little bit more introspective about materialism and consumption.

The following formula is included in my lecture in Shanghai in 1981:

Paul Samuelson,MIT economics professor,the first American Nobel Laureate in Economics has a "Formula of Happiness" with "Material Consumption "over "Desire" in his textbook but I am inclined to add "Intellectual Pursuit,""Spiritual Satisfaction" and "Good Health" in the numerator of the "Formula for Happiness." Needless to say,the denominator is still "Desire." My vision is similar to the human behavior nowadays as cited above.

Page 7A: China Navy Marks 60 Years. The international fleet review included vessels from the US and 13 other nations as I sent my prior blogs. China is joining the international community in military exercises for peace.

Page 3B: Gold prices move opposite the value of the US Dollar as I have maintained the intrinsic value of precious metal such as gold,silver and copper.

Taiwanm, China to meet for talks this weekend re agreements on banking,expanded flights to be concluded. President Ma's policy is to lower tension with mainland by focusing on practical business issues.

Such better relations would be in the best interest of USA for peace and economic development in cross-strait relations in East Asia.
