President Obama endorses the role of community colleges in USA

President Obama's call for higher education for all Americans is doable:

The United States began building higher education capacity in 1947, when the Truman Commission established the concept of universal access to higher education and created open admissions community colleges. I arrived in the USA in 1947 to pursue my graduate studies at the University of San Francisco and Georgetown University Graduate School. I do remember such historical pronouncement very well.

The 1965 Higher Education Act established financial aid and I taught Economics at Glendale College in California with my California teaching credential in 1961.

These actions resulted in a post-secondary education system that guarantees access to all. No other nation has such infrastructure in educational system.

All Americans, young or old, can use community colleges to upgrade their skills or obtain an Associate Degree. This existing system can be used to retrain workers for better jobs to supply the demand of a changing society. We can easily detect such significance for economic recovery from recession via training for displaced workers to find new jobs. Such proper utilization of human resources is sine qua non for a competitive America.

The following works are dedicated to the above rationale as my modest contributions to USA and China for relevance during the economic crisis.

1, "Keys for Economic Understanding" (1971) www.Amazon.com for information.
2. "The Future of Community Colleges" published by the Congressional Record,July 18, 1974 as my vision in the 20th century for the 21st century.
3. "Keys to Economic Understanding"(1976) stressing technical education for para-professionals in the USA and in China as well in the 21st century.www.Amazon.com
4. "Work and Study Cycle Theory" is designed to enhance productivity. Such academic theory may be validated and implemented in USA and in China for training human resources for cooperation and collaboration apropos of Sino-American Economics. www.loc.gov Library of Congress online catalog for reference.

Francis Shieh aka Xie Shihao, a lifelong learner to witness positive economic development leading to peace on earth and goodwill toward all folks as the goal.
