The opening ceremonies will begin at 8.08:08 p.m. on Aug.8, 2008. During the opening ceremonies, the host nation welcomes the world to the Olympic Games with hundreds of singers, dancers, and acrobats participating. In the parade of athletes, each nation enters the stadium with all or a portion of its competitors. Greece is always the first country to enter because it was the location of the first Olympic Games more than 2,000 yars ago. The other nations enter in alphabetical order. The host nation is the last to enter.

The closing ceremonies for the Games will be on Aug.24,2008. At that point, there will be 302 new gold medalists.
Watching on TV for high-definition. NBC will be the only American broadcast network to show the Games.
